CMA requires lawyers to publish prices on website
Publish prices on your website easily with QuoteXpress
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) concluded in December that lawyers should be required to publish prices on their websites so that pricing is transparent.
With our QuoteXpress platform, meeting this new requirement is easy. You can add our instant quotation widget to your website and allow your customers to obtain instant quotations for a wide range of legal matters including conveyancing and family law.
The new requirement was one outcome of a year long study into the legal services market, which determined that the legal services sector is not working well for individuals and small businesses and that people struggle to make informed choices between providers because of a lack of transparency about price and quality of service.
The CMA has asked regulators to:
“deliver a step change in standards of transparency to help consumers (i) to understand the price and service they will receive, what redress is available and the regulatory status of their provider and (ii) to compare providers. Regulators should revise their regulatory requirements to set a new minimum standard for disclosures on price and the service provided and develop and disseminate best practice guidance. Importantly, this should include a requirement for providers to publish relevant information about the prices consumers are likely to pay for legal services.”1
